Introduction

Justin Hurwitz is an American composer and writer, known for his collaborations with writer and director Damien Chazelle on the films Whiplash (2014) and La La Land (2016). Hurwitz and Chazelle met as undergraduates at Harvard University where they played in the same band and became roommates. Hurwitz attended Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin.
