Early years and personal life

Jordan Schmidt was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on February 26, 1988, to local musicians Mark and Tammy Schmidt. He was drawn to music at an early age, picking up the guitar when he was 10 years old, and started recording local artists at the age of 16. In 2006, Schmidt moved to College Park, Maryland, and was an assistant to Matt Squire. After a year of working with Matt, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he recorded bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Quietdrive, Sing It Loud, You, Me, and Everyone We Know, Jamestown Story, Paradise Fears, Take Cover, and The Role Call. Schmidt has also produced and/or co-written many songs licensed to popular TV shows, such as NCIS: New Orleans, Hart of Dixie, Catfish, Jersey Shore, The Biggest Loser, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Real World, Dr. Phil, Snooki & JWoww, Battle Creek, and a MasterCard commercial.

In 2012, Schmidt moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he and his brother Dane Schmidt founded WeVolve Music. In April 2015, Jordan Schmidt became the first songwriter/producer signed to Tree Vibez Music, a publishing company started by Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line. In July 2016, Jordan celebrated his first #1 song with Jason Aldean's "Lights Come On"
