Introduction

Jordan Richards (born January 21, 1993) is an American football safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Stanford and was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

College career

He played college football at Stanford, where he was a team captain and first team All-PAC player during his final senior collegiate year. Although recruited as one top the top 100 receivers in the country, he was switched to defense and played all 13 games as a true freshman.

Professional career

Richards was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He played in 14 regular-season games his rookie season with two starts and registered 17 tackles, two pass deflections, one forced fumble, and two special teams tackles. He played mostly on special teams and in nickel and dime sequences on defense. He started at safety against the Jets on December 27, 2015 after starter Patrick Chung was out due to an injury and recorded a season-high seven tackles.

Personal life

Richards is a Folsom High School alumni along with many other professional sports players. His father, Terry, a native of Natick, Massachusetts, played football at Tufts University from 1975 - 1979 as a defensive lineman. He majored in public policy at Stanford.
