John Michael Dwyer, AO (born 9 September 1939) is an Australian doctor, a professor of medicine, and a public health advocate. He was the Head of the Department of Clinical Immunology at Yale University before returning to Australia to become the Clinical Dean at Sydney’s Prince of Wales Hospital for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of New South Wales and the head of the Department of Medicine at that hospital for over twenty years. Now retired, he is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine of the University. He founded the Australian Health Care Reform Alliance, and he is the founding president of the Friends of Science in Medicine. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for his service to public health.
