Introduction

Josh Rice (born Joshua Adam Rice in 1988 in Washington state, USA) better known as J Rice is an American pop and R&B artist. He has released four albums: Gospel meets RnB (2002), The Intro (2005), So Close (2008) and Phantom Boyz Present: J Rice (2011), a mixtape HeartBreakerz: The Official Mixtape (2009) and two original singles "Afraid of Love" (2010) and "Thank You for the Broken Heart" (2011). He is currently signed to Lil T Records and has been since 2002. He is founder of his own J Rice Productions company.

Career

J Rice started very early in music. His mother sang opera, grandmother played the violin, and great great grandfather was in a 5-piece quartet with his brothers and sisters.

Music and collaborations

J Rice started by releasing "hype" songs through Lil T Records, he also built fame through his online posts and music videos starting 2001. For his online output, he is known for his multi-layer solo interpretations as well as cooperation with many online artists like Ahmir, Jason Chen, Kurt Schneider, David Sides, the then unknown and the eventual American Idol season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez and many others.

In 2009, J Rice teamed up with producers The Phantom Boyz and JUiCY RNB in cooperation with DJ Benihana releasing a mixtape on Chappell/Warner label called HeartBreakerz: The Official Mixtape with 18 tracks all showcasing J Rice vocals. Continuing his cooperation with producers The Phantom Boyz, in 2011, he released his third studio album Phantom Boyz Present: J Rice.

J Rice was also featured in Stella Mwangi's 2011 album Kinanda on the track "Throw Me a Ladder". Mwengi's album, her second, reached number 15 on the Norwegian VG-lista official albums chart.

He also did a collaboration with The Piano Guys, singing "More Than Words".
