G. Gabrielle Starr

G. Gabrielle Starr is the Seryl Kushner Dean of the College of Arts and Science and Professor of English at New York University. She is a literary scholar known for her work on eighteenth-century British literature and the neuroscience of aesthetics. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, an NSF ADVANCE award (joint with Nava Rubin), and a New Directions Fellowship from the Mellon Foundation. She was recently hired as the first woman and first African-American President of Pomona College.
