‹See Tfd› Fred Rochelle was a black teenager from Bartow, Florida that on May 29, 1901, was lynched and burned alive following the murder and rape of a white woman, Rena Smith Taggart, the day before.

Legacy

Ossian Sweet, in his testimony during the Sweet Trials in 1925, recalled having seen Rochelle being lynched when he was five years old.
