Francesca Thompson (born 29 April 1932) is an American Roman Catholic nun of the Order of Saint Francis/Sisters of Saint Francis (Oldenburg, Indiana).

Early life

Her parents Evelyn Preer and Edward Thompson were silent film actors and vaudevillians in the 1910s and 1920s.

Career

From 1982, Thompson was an associate professor of African and African American studies and assistant dean/director for multicultural programs at Fordham University, where she was honored with an honorary doctorate degree in fine arts in 2002. She has also served as a member of the Tony Awards nominating committee.
