Introduction

Sam Shepherd, known professionally as Floating Points, is an English electronic musician. Shepherd is also a co-founder of the label Eglo Records.

After several EPs, singles and live appearances, Shepherd's debut studio album, Elaenia, released in November 2015, to widespread critical acclaim. In 2019, his second studio album Crush, was released.

Biography

Raised in Manchester, England, Shepherd studied piano at Chetham's School of Music before achieving a PhD in neuroscience and epigenetics at University College London.

Floating Points Ensemble

Shepherd has previously performed with a sixteen-piece live incarnation of Floating Points, entitled the Floating Points Ensemble. The group won an award for "Best BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session".
