Introduction

Debi Edward is a Scottish television broadcaster, currently based in Beijing, working as Asia Correspondent for ITV News.

Early life and education

Edward was born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland. She attended Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland and graduated in 2002 with a BA degree in International Business and Languages.

She also undertook the National Council for Training of Journalists Course (NCTJ) at Cardonald College, Glasgow.

Career

After finishing her education, Edward became a broadcast journalist for Wave 102 FM radio. She left Wave in Aug. 2004, to join Saga 105.2 FM radio as a broadcast journalist.

In November 2005, Edward joined STV as a reporter and presenter of Scotland Today's weekday morning bulletins at 5.25am during GMTV, and occasionally the weekend bulletins. Working with STV, in 2008, she along Louise English and Stephen Jardine hosted daily magazine program, "The Five-Thirty Show." She left the show in May 2008 to become ITN's Scotland Correspondent, and was replaced by ex-ITV Morning News presenter Rachel McTavish.

In February 2016, Edward became the China Correspondent for ITV News. She was the Hong Kong correspondent for the November 2016 ITV News Special for the US election, "Trump vs Clinton: The Result." The show was hosted by Tom Bradby, with Penny Marshall, Martin Geissler, Emma Murphy and James Mates as correspondents.

Over the years, she has appeared as Asia Correspondent on various news shows including ITV Weekend News, ITV Evening News, Central Tonight and ITV News at Ten.

Currently, she is based in Beijing, working as Asia Correspondent for ITV News.
