Introduction
Ret. Lt. Col. Charles W. Dryden (September 16, 1920 – June 24, 2008) was one of the first and original Tuskegee Airmen. Dryden earned his wings in 1942, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He is the author of an autobiography, A-Train: Memoirs of a Tuskegee Airman.
Biography
Dryden was born in New York City in 1920 and died in 2008. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School. He was married to Marymal Morgan Dryden and is survived by his three sons Charles aka Thumper Dryden, Keith Dryden, Eric Dryden and her four children George Bingham, Kenneth Bingham, Tony Bingham and Cornelia-Rose White and seven grandchildren,Cameron Dryden,Jeremy Bingham,Avoilan Bingham, Morgan White,Jerry Dryden, Tyler Dryden, Isaiah Bingham who reside in Atlanta, Georgia.He earned degrees in political science from Hofstra University on Long Island and public law from Columbia University in New York City. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate by Hoftstra in 1996. In between, he taught air science at Howard University in Washington, D.C..
