Introduction
Óscar Alfonso Castro (born December 20, 1986 in Obregón, Sonora), better known as Caloncho, is a Mexican musician and singer.
Biography
Caloncho lived in Guadalajara since he was very little. His favorite activity in his early years was to play the drums, until he decided to experiment with melody. At the same time, he started playing the guitar that his grandfather had left for him years before, and soon learned to play the songs of artists such as Bob Marley, Sublime, among others.
As he confessed himself, Caloncho was the name his grandfather used to refer to him since he was very little and the name never annoyed him, so he decided to use it as his musical act name.
Artistry
He recorded his first EP called "Homeotermo" in 2011, and soon after that he starts working with Siddhartha (former-teacher and friend) to ask him to be his producer and Siddhartha replied to him: "Caloncho, born musician newly discovered, both by him and by those around him. He sent me a model and instantly I felt it was a musical obligation to extract the juice from its fruitful melody", said Caloncho's website.
He then released his second EP, titled "Fruta" (Fruit), in September 2013. This production is a work that goes from its origins, mixing its musical style with rhythms and stories of national folk, beach, forest and city. All this outlining different situations of his own life.
"We experimented a lot during the creation of the EP with organic sounds and objects not considered musical instruments, such as water, fruit, seeds, lighters, etc. I love it and I want to hear it", he confessed.
Calancho confesses that thanks to music he has lived the conception of the senses and he has also been able to feel completely connected with his family. "My dad made us songs and invited us to build them, as a way to coexist", he explained.
In 2015 he published the LP, "Fruta Vol. II" (Fruit Vol. II), a production worked with certain arrangements.<ref> </ref>
