Introduction

Brad King (23 November 1917 - 1 November 1991) was an American actor. He appeared in eight movies in his career and is best known for briefly playing the sidekick of Hopalong Cassidy (played by William Boyd) in 5 of the Hoppy films in 1941: Stick to Your Guns, Riders of the Timberline, Twilight on the Trail, Outlaws of the Desert, and Secret of the Wastelands.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941 before he could complete his sixth Hoppy film. After being discharged, King was seen in three more movies before leaving the film industry: Edward BerndsPistol Packin' Nitwits (1945), David Butler's San Antonio (1945, uncredited), and W. Merle Connell's Trouble at Melody Mesa (1949).

Personal life

King was born on November 23, 1917, on a ranch in Lander County, Nevada. After his father's death and his mother's remarriage, the family moved to a ranch in Bountiful, Utah. At age 20, he worked as wagon boss for a ranch in Nye County, Nevada. He also won prizes in rodeo competitions.

He was married to Elshie H. Schulte. 

Death

King died on November 1, 1991, in Lodi, California, at the age of 73.
