Bob Snodgrass
Bob Snodgrass is an American glassblower known for his contributions and innovations to the art of glass pipe-making and glass art in general.
Beginning his work with glass in 1971, Snodgrass was influenced by his decade's expanding artistic cannabis smoking culture. In 1981 glassblowing became Snodgrass' and he and his family began traveling the United States, selling his work at various art markets until 1990 when they settled in Eugene, Oregon.
Snodgrass invented Dichroic glass (Dichro), a type of borosilicate glass mixed with gold and silver which appears to change colors in different lighting. Today Snodgrass continues to reside in Oregon and has a long list of apprentices who continue improving upon his work. The documentary film, Degenerate Art, documents the heady glass subculture that Snodgrass helped spread. He is considered the "Godfather of artistic hard glass."
