Bitto Albertini

Adalberto "Bitto" Albertini (1924–1999) was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

He began his film career as a camera operator and as a cinematographer. In 1974 Albertini directed Black Emanuelle starring the then almost unknown Laura Gemser. Her subsequent successful career meant that she was absent from Black Emanuelle 2, and Albertini instead cast actress Shulamith Lasri in the title role. Albertini effectively kick-started the hugely successful Black Emanuelle series of which Joe D'Amato would take the helm, followed briefly by Bruno Mattei and several other less prominent directors.

In 1977 he released Yellow Emanuelle yet this was more of a soft core romantic drama than an exploitation film. Starring Chai Lee, this film was actually was very successful and was one of the few films of this type to have largely positive reviews.. Despite Albertini's role, his films would never reach the popularity or infamy of those of Joe D'Amato.Albertini'slast two films were "Mondos" set in Asia and Africa depicting shocking rituals and savage violence at the tail-end of the Mondo-cycle.

He died in Italy in 1999 at age 74.
