Ben Mathis-Lilley

Ben Mathis-Lilley is an American journalist who is currently a contributor to Slate, as well as the editor of its news blog Slatest.

Prior to being hired by Slate in 2014, Mathis-Lilley worked at BuzzFeed, which hired him in June 2012. While at BuzzFeed, he served as the website's sports editor until he was fired in March 2014. Prior to being hired by BuzzFeed, he worked at New York, where he began as an editorial assistant in 2004. While at New York, his tasks included overseeing "The Approval Matrix," a feature humorously graphing multiple things in regards to two qualities.
