Introduction

Babik Reinhardt (8 June 1944, Paris – 13 November 2001, Cannes) was a guitarist and the son of gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Babik was born in Paris. Although he was the son of Django, he was taught guitar by mother, Naguine, and piano by his father, who thought piano was a better means of employment. His father died when Babik was nine years old, and his musical education in guitar was continued by uncles and cousins.
Instead of the gypsy jazz of his father, Babik favored jazz fusion, and recorded with American fusion guitarist Larry Coryell and French violinist Didier Lockwood. In 2001, he died of a heart attack at 57 in Cannes, France.
Babik appeared on the album Generation Djano (Dreyfus, 2009), a tribute to his father recorded by mutliple musicians, including Django's grandson, David, and Biréli Lagrène.
