Babar Ahmed is an acclaimed South Asian film director and writer based in America. He has produced multiple award winning mainstream movies, as well as high-profile videos for international organizations like the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund.

Personal life

Babar Ahmed is a graduate of University of Cambridge and University College London, and has taken film courses at New York University, and New York Film Academy where he was inspired to pursue filmmaking.

Career

Ahmed wrote and directed the 2014 hit movie Amka and the Three Golden Rules. The story is about a ten year old Mongolian boy who discovers a gold coin. The movie received rave reviews in international press, being described as 'Stunning', 'Inspirational', 'A herculian effort', and 'the kind of poetic family adventure rarely seen in the US'. WCBE's leading movie critic wrote 'Ahmed has crafted an affecting Mongolian tale as instructive about the enduring values of an ancient culture as it is a universal story of a boy’s coming of age.'Mongolia's biggest English language newspaper UB Post describes the movie as 'Brilliantly crafted' and went on to write that 'combined with a strong lead, stunning shots of the spectacular landscapes of Mongolia and excellent music... the story is in many ways a symbol of how Mongolia must decide its own fate.'The movie also played at film festivals across the globe picking up several 'Best Feature Film' awardsAt the Arizona International Film Festival, the movie received a special award for "Bridging Cultures'.

Amka and the Three Golden Rules is currently playing on international flights on American Airlines.

Genius (2003 film) was Ahmed's debut film receiving multiple awards, strong reviews, screened at several film festivals, and was released direct to video nationwide in America.

His second film, Royal Kill, was released in 2009 and distributed by Lions Gate Entertainment. The film received mixed reviews, and featured performances by Eric Roberts and Pat Morita.

Ahmed has also made multiple videos for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank on topics such as global aging and urban development.
