Introduction

Andrew A. Kosove is an American film producer who was nominated for an Academy Award for the film The Blind Side. Alongside his producing partner, Broderick Johnson, he is the co-founder and co-CEO of Alcon Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based wholly independent production company. In December 2015, the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered that Kosove was linked to the leak of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.

Early life

Kosove graduated from Princeton University in 1992. He became friends with Broderick Johnson in college.

Career

Kosove and Johnson moved to Los Angeles, California, where they started a film production company with financial capital from Frederick W. Smith, the founder and chairman of FedEx. The company became known as Alcon Entertainment. Their first feature film, Lost & Found, was a failure at the box office. However, their second film, My Dog Skip, "was the 75th-highest-grossing film of 2000—and Alcon made a tidy profit of roughly $20 million." Later, they produced P.S. I Love You, Dude, Where's My Car?, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Book of Eli, etc.

In 2009, Kosove produced alongside Johnson, Alcon's, "The Blind Side," which received financial backing from JPMorgan Chase. The film was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar and earned Sandra Bullock the Oscar for Best Actress. Additionally, Kosove produced "Dolphin Tale". Other films produced by Alcon include 'Insomnia and 16 Blocks. Alcon's next release was Joyful Noise, a music-driven comedy starring Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton, released January 13, 2012.

Kosove was nominated for an Emmy Award as an executive producer on the documentary entitled, Sinatra: All or Nothing At All (directed by Alex Gibney) in 2015.

In December 2015, the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered that Kosove was the source of Quentin Tarantino's Western film The Hateful Eight being leaked online via DVD screener. Kosove responded by issuing the following statement: "The screener copy of ‘The Hateful Eight’ that was sent to me at Alcon Entertainment never touched my hands nor was I aware that it had been delivered." He added, "We're going to do more than cooperate with the FBI. We're going to conduct our own investigation to find out what happened."

Personal life

Kosove lives in Los Angeles and is married to producer Kira Davis. They have two children together.
