Biography
Ali Mech was a tribal chief in the 12th century AD, in the region of present-day Assam, India. Mech tribe of Kachari of Assam, who helped Bakhtiyar Khilji in his conquest of Tibet.
He is thought to have been the first Muslim convert in Assam. He converted to Islam in 1205 AD. He is considered as founding father of Deshi people of Assam.
