Introduction
Alexander Serge Leonard Bernstein (born July 7, 1955) is an American composer. He is one of the three children of famed composer Leonard Bernstein.
Early life and education
Alexander Bernstein was born in New York City on July 7, 1955, to Leonard Bernstein and actress Felicia Montealegre. He has two siblings—Jamie Bernstein, a writer, broadcaster, and filmmaker, and Nina Bernstein.
He holds a Master's degree in English education from New York University and a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University.
Career
Alexander is president of Artful Learning, Inc., and founding Vice President and Treasurer of The Leonard Bernstein Office, Inc., a non-profit foundation dedicated to encouraging the love of learning by means of the arts.
Earlier, he taught for five years at the Packer-Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, New York, first as a second-grade teacher, then as a teacher of drama for the middle school. He has studied acting, performed professionally, and worked as a production associate at the ABC News Documentary Unit.

Alexander has appeared in 3 movies. In 1983, he portrayed a student in Sidney Lumet's drama Daniel starring Timothy Hutton, Mandy Patinkin, and Lindsay Crouse. In 2012, he portrayed a pianist in Aisling Walsh's TV movie Loving Miss Hatto, starring Alfred Molina, Francesca Annis, and Rory Kinnear.
Personal life
Alexander was previously married to Australian actress Kerry Armstrong (1985—1986).
